Photography Contest

A green background, at the top is a cartoon image of a camera. At the bottom it says "Optimist International Photography Contest"

Photographers for the contest should be students at any age up through high school and prior to post-secondary education. Students are asked to submit photos that illustrate/exemplify one of the ten verses/lines of “The Optimist Creed”.

The purpose of this contest is to expose young people to “The Optimist Creed” and our philosophy of Optimism and to assist them with developing an interest in the area of photography.

This contest provides an avenue for a student’s artistic expression through photos. It introduces both students and parents to “The Optimist Creed” as our philosophy. It makes them aware of a local Optimist club, its activities, and can serve as an opportunity to promote membership.

  5. To think only of the best, to work only for the best, and to expect only the best.
  6. To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own.
  7. To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.
  8. To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile.
  9. To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others.
  10. To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.
